Square Steel Poles

The Straight Square Steel poles are built from high-strength steel tube and are available side-drilled for arm-mounted area lighting luminaires or with tenon mounts for flood and post-top luminaires. Typical area lighting applications include retail centers, industrial parks, schools and universities, public transit and airports, office buildings, and medical facilities. Mounting heights of 15 to 25 feet can be used based on the selected luminaire application. Each pole comes with base mounting and includes a complete accessory set: four square steel poles, one spray paint, one hand hole cover, and an anchor bolt set.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What are square steel light poles used for in commercial and outdoor lighting?

Square steel poles are commonly used for parking lots, streets, campuses, warehouses and outdoor facilities. Their rigid welded steel construction provides strong support for LED area lights, floodlights and bracket mounts, making them ideal for high-performance, long-lasting outdoor lighting applications.

What height and gauge options are available for square steel poles?

Square steel poles are available in multiple heights—typically 10 ft to 30 ft—with various wall thicknesses (gauges) designed for different load requirements. This allows contractors and facility managers to select the right pole strength based on wind rating, fixture weight and project needs.

Are square steel poles compatible with LED area lights, floodlights and mounting brackets?

Yes. Square steel poles are designed to support a wide range of LED fixtures including area lights, floodlights, bullhorns, tenons and arm mounts. Standardized drill patterns and mounting options ensure easy fixture installation and secure long-term performance.

How long do square steel poles last outdoors?

With proper coating and regular maintenance, square steel poles can last 20–30 years or more. Durability depends on environmental exposure, finish type and fixture loading. High-quality powder coating or galvanization significantly extends service life.

Are anchor bolts included with square steel lighting poles?

Most commercial square steel poles come with anchor bolts sized to match the base plate. Bolt diameter, length and bolt-circle patterns vary by pole model. Always verify compatibility with foundation drawings before installation. Havells poles always comes with proper size anchor bolts and can be preshipped.

How do I choose the right pole?

Match the pole height and gauge to your wind zone, fixture EPA and site requirements.

What are the different types of lighting poles?

The main types of lighting poles include square steel poles, round steel poles, aluminum poles, fiberglass poles, concrete poles, and wooden utility poles. Each type offers different strength, corrosion resistance, and cost benefits depending on the outdoor lighting application.

What is the standard size of a light pole?

There is no single standard size, but most light poles range from 15 to 40 feet tall. Residential and pathway lighting typically uses 15–20 ft poles, parking lots use 20–30 ft, and highways or large commercial areas often require 30–40 ft poles, depending on lighting needs and local codes.

Which pole material is best?

Steel poles are the most commonly used and preferred because they offer high strength, durability, and long service life. Aluminum poles are lightweight and corrosion-resistant, while fiberglass or composite poles are ideal for coastal or high-corrosion environments. The best choice depends on application, location, and wind-load requirements.

What are the main advantages of square steel poles?

Square steel poles provide high structural strength, excellent wind-load resistance, and a modern, clean appearance. They offer better mounting stability for fixtures and accessories, are hot-dip galvanized or powder-coated for corrosion resistance, and are ideal for parking lots, commercial sites, and industrial applications.
